What is a Slip and Fall?

A slip and fall accident can lead to very serious physical injuries. Broken bones, lacerations, scars, disfigurement and torn ligaments are just some of the most severe injuries. While a slip and fall is sometimes an unfortunate mishap and nobody’s fault, other slip and falls can be traced back to negligence.

If someone owed you a duty of care (i.e. the grocery store has a duty to respond to spills on the floor), and they breached that duty (i.e. the store does not put out a sign to warn you and also does not clean up the spill in a timely manner), then they may be responsible for your fall and your injuries.

Common causes of slip and fall accidents include:

  • Uneven flooring or sidewalks
  • Cracked, rotting or damaged sidewalks
  • Lack of handrails
  • Slippery/wet surfaces
  • Cords or equipment left in walking areas
  • Torn carpeting
  • Inadequate lighting

These cases can be complex. Someone is not always at fault; however, if someone is responsible, you will likely need the skill and experience of a personal injury attorney to prove it. Various actions must be undertaken to show that the responsible party caused the dangerous conditions, or did not do anything to address those dangerous conditions despite knowing of them.

In a personal injury claim handled by our experienced lawyers, we will tirelessly pursue compensation on your behalf. In the event of successful monetary recoveries, the award may be based on:

  • Medical bills
  • Loss of income
  • Pain and suffering
  • Mental anguish
  • Costs of physical rehabilitation
  • Diminished earning capacity

First, we must get to know you and how this injury has impacted your life. Once we have learned those details, we can build a strategic case that seeks the best possible results for you and your family. Slip and fall injuries can be painful and traumatic. Our lawyers are here to serve as your dedicated advocates.
